"AN AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY ABOUT LOVE, HATE AND BEING TRANSGENDER IN UGANDA"

ABOUT THE FILM

image

The Pearl of Africa is a world acclaimed story about Cleopatra Kambugu, a 28 year old Ugandan transgender girl. Biologically born male, but against all odds, transitioning into the e woman she knows she was born to be. Through an intimate fight for love in Uganda, one of the world's most transphobic places. We get an insight into what it means to love as trans. It is a story of love & hate. As she against all odds, is determined to become the first accepted trans person in Uganda.

Unlike many films that explore themes related to human rights, The Pearl of Africa focuses on telling a universal love story in an extreme circumstance.
